Sun protection ABC Principles

More and more carefully-grooming men are aware of the importance of sun protection. Our topic today starts with the ABC Sun Protection Principle advocated by World Health Organization. Let’s find out three best ways to protect yourself from the sun.

Why do men need sun protection?

Many men have a misconception that sun protection equals protection from tanning.

And many of them think that a tan is more masculine, isn't it?

Actually, this is not correct.

Generally speaking, if your skin has many blackheads, acne muscles, long closed mouth, thick pores, dark and colorless skin, long spots, fine lines in the corner of the eye and other problems, these may be all related to sun protection.

To protect yourself from the sun or not, that is the question!

Therefore, sun protection is not equal to protection from being tanned, but to prevent your skin from all kinds of damage caused by wrinkles, spots and other skin problems.

For both men and women, sunscreen is the most important part of skin care if you want to be young with good skin.

ABC Principles:

ABC are the initials of these three measures: Avoid, Block and Cream. The specific meanings are as follows:

Aviod -- The best way to protect yourself from sunburn is to avoid the sun.

Block -- to block, to reduce exposure to the sun.

Cream - sunscreen, When A and B cannot meet the needs of sun protection, adopt C to make up.

Plan A:

Hide yourself in the shade when you are in the open air, especially between 10 AM and 4 PM which are the peak hours of sunlight intensity. Walk on the shady side of the street, sit under an awning or sun-protective umbrella, put yourself under the covered porch or a tree at a pool party. But shade isn’t a perfect shield. Some UV rays can still reach your skin. They can pass through leaves and branches, hit your skin from the side and reflect off water, sand, glass and concrete.

Plan B:

Clothing can provide a great barrier against the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays. Its protection is constant over time and doesn’t wear off like sunscreen does. Many new fabrics offer high-tech protection and breathability, too. The more skin you cover (high neck, long sleeves, pants), the better, and a hat with a wide brim (three inches or more) is best because it helps shade your eyes, ears, face and neck. Also wearing UV-blocking sunglasses helps to protect your eyes and the skin around them.

Plan C:

No matter how you block the sun, the coverage rate of clothing can not reach 100%, there is always a part of the light through the gaps of clothing which may reach your skin. The sunscreen, which applied to the surface of our skin, is our next line of defense.  And there will always be some occasions where we don't have a choice of clothing, that’s what makes sunscreen important instead.
