Understanding Mfsorb® 360: How It Protects Materials from Sun Damage

We often hear about UV protection for our skin, but did you know that plastics, coatings, and other synthetic materials also need protection from the sun? That's where advanced light stabilizers like Mfsorb® 360 come into play.

Mfsorb® 360 is a type of benzotriazole-based ultraviolet absorber specifically designed to shield polymers from UV radiation. It absorbs a broad range of UV light-from 280 to 400 nm-covering both UV-A and UV-B wavelengths. This helps prevent common sunlight-induced damage such as discoloration, brittleness, and loss of mechanical strength.

What makes Mfsorb® 360 particularly useful is its excellent thermal stability. It can withstand high processing temperatures, making it suitable for engineering plastics like polycarbonate and PMMA, which are often used in automotive parts, optical lenses, and outdoor displays.

Another advantage is its low volatility and minimal migration. Thanks to its relatively high molecular weight, it doesn't easily evaporate or leach out from the material. This ensures long-term performance in demanding applications such as exterior coatings, solar films, and plastic components.

Mfsorb® 360 is also safe and compliant with international standards including REACH, RoHS, and FDA requirements for indirect food contact.

At MFCI, with over 30 years of experience in UV absorber R&D and production, we're committed to providing effective and reliable solutions like Mfsorb® 360 that help enhance the durability and appearance of materials exposed to sunlight.
